Under the embrace of perfect Spring weather, Houstonians flocked to the picturesque McGovern Centennial Gardens on Thursday, April 4th, for a cause close to their hearts – the sixth annual Party in the Park fundraiser for Yellowstone Schools. This enchanting evening saw laughter, music, and camaraderie fill the air, as attendees came together to show their support. The event proved not only a social highlight but also a substantial success, with over $778,000 raised, a feat made even more remarkable by a generous matching donation from On Track Ministries.
Yellowstone Schools, nestled in Houston's Third Ward, stand as a beacon of hope and opportunity for children facing the challenges of generational poverty. With a distinctive approach blending faith-based principles and academic excellence, Yellowstone provides a nurturing environment from pre-K through 5th grade, followed by a public upper school extending to 12th grade, all on a single campus.
At the heart of this year's gala were the esteemed chairs, Lauren & Jack Burgher, and Suzy & Paul Thompson, whose dedication and leadership ensured the event's success. The evening also served as a moment to honor the unwavering support of Anne & Les Csorba, and Janet & Brad Childers. These benefactors have been integral to Yellowstone's journey, stretching back 21 years to its founding. Their recent stewardship of the Yellowstone. Forever. campaign propelled crucial renovations and expansions, shaping the school's future.
As the night drew to a close, the true essence of community and generosity lingered in the air. Each dollar raised, each smile shared, reaffirmed Houston's commitment to empowering its youth and transforming lives through education. In the gardens of McGovern Centennial, under the canopy of stars, a celebration unfolded—one that echoed the resilience and compassion of a city united in purpose.
