Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller to Honor Historic Texas Family Farms, Ranches in Family Land Heritage Ceremony

On Wednesday October 18, 2023, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will honor 45 Texas family farms and ranches representing 36 Texas counties (see attached map) during the 49th annual Family Land Heritage celebration. Cowboy Entrepreneur Scott Knudsen will serve as master of ceremonies, while cowboy poet and singer-songwriter Red Steagall will provide a dose of western humor and music. A Texas-sized BBQ will be held on the south Capitol lawn.

The Family Land Heritage ceremony, held at the Texas State Capitol, recognizes families who have kept their farms and ranches in continuous agricultural production for at least 100 years. This year, Commissioner Miller will also recognize eight families with 150 years or more of continuous production.

During this heartwarming event, generations of farm and ranch families will come together to be honored with a certificate and recognition by Commissioner Miller on behalf of the state of Texas. Together, these hard-working families represent over 4,900 years of agriculture production!

See attached for list and map of the farms and ranches to be honored in 2023.
