John Whitmire Endorsed for Houston Mayor

John Whitmire announced today that the American Council of Engineering Companies Houston PAC has endorsed him in his campaign for mayor of the City of Houston.

“Having carefully considered multiple, well-qualified candidates, the ACEC Houston PAC proudly endorses State Senator John Whitmire for Mayor of Houston. He is the right candidate to address Houston's current challenges. In our discussions, Senator Whitmire demonstrated a commitment to providing much-needed investment in building and maintaining the roads, bridges, water lines, flood mitigation, and other infrastructure required for a good quality of life, a healthy economy, and future growth. He has a long track record of supporting infrastructure locally and in the state legislature.

“Currently serving as Chair of the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice, he is the only Democrat committee chair in a Republican-controlled Senate, demonstrating his reputation for working across the aisle on issues important to this region. He has proven that he can bring people together to get things done, which can help secure future funding for transportation, flooding, and other infrastructure from the state. His experience and leadership make him the most qualified candidate to be the next Mayor of Houston.”

Whitmire has represented Senate District 15 in the Texas Senate for the past 40 years, after serving ten years in the Texas House. He knows Houston is a great city, where its diverse population comes together to tackle tough issues. Whitmire wants to see the city reach its full potential by taking on the tough issues facing our city. Those issues include public safety, illegal dumping, homelessness, flooding and drainage, street and water system repair and neighborhood traffic safety. He also wants to boost the morale of police and firefighters and let them know that Houston has their backs.
