The Sheila Jackson Lee campaign will announce the endorsements of noteworthy local labor unions who are crediting her leadership on critical issues for frontline workers and public servants as the reason that she will be their “Choice” to become the next Mayor of Houston.

Each union hailed her support for key provisions in the throughout the COVID pandemic with federal resources that kept workers safe as they performed jobs on the front lines including: manning our hospitals, operating transit systems, grocery stores, American Rescue Plan and leadership and government operations as well as delivering our mail in the face of the pandemic.

“Sheila Jackson Lee has a lifetime body of work as an effective leader and has been an unwavering champion for the working class in our great City. She has never failed in her commitment to fight for the rights of Unions and Houstonians” said Jackie Anderson, President of Houston Federation of Teachers (HFT).

In Congress, Sheila Jackson Lee has pushed to increase wages for hard-working Americans and families; she has fought for collective bargaining rights so that they have a seat at the table and has advocated for policies to make everyday expenses more affordable. She has a strong record of standing up for legislation to lower prescription costs and cut taxes for working families. Because of her leadership and thoughtful negotiations, vital resources were invested in Houston’s future economic growth. She commits herself each day to moving policies forward that help our workers and families like the Child Tax Credit, workplace safety standards and measures to bring down out-of-pocket costs on healthcare, childcare, housing and prescription drugs.
