Can you believe July is around the corner? Discovery Green has activities to ring in the new month for the entire family. Below is a breakdown of what is going on next weekend!
Hartha Yoga
Saturday, July 1st from 9 - 10 AM
A basic vinyasa yoga class for enhanced awareness and a strong, healthy body led by Andria Dugas. This Saturday class is a perfect way to start the weekend strong.
Classes are free but registration is requested on site. Bring a towel and water, as well as a mat for yoga classes.
Tai Chi
Saturday, July 1st from 10:15 - 11:15 AM
Led by Simone Oliver of Four Dragons Institute, this Tai Chi class focuses on slow, meditative movements for increased health and mental wellbeing.Classes are free but registration is requested on site. Bring a towel and water, as well as a mat for yoga classes.
Rocket Dog
Saturday, July 1st from 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Built by legendary art car artist, Rebecca Bass, Rocket Dog is Discovery Green’s official mascot. Bass along with her students created Rocket Dog, an “art cart” in 2007 to celebrate the opening of Discovery Green. The cart is filled with lawn games such as bocce ball, horseshoes, and more for patrons to borrow while visiting the park. An ID is needed to borrow games and will be returned to you when the borrowed games are returned.
Kayaks
Saturday, July 1st from 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Rent a kayak and glide around Kinder Lake! Rentals are provided by Bayou City Adventures and are subject to weather conditions. Reservations are not required. The cost is $5 per person.
Recycling Saturdays with Happy Earth Composting Saturday, July 1st from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Bring your sorted glass, paper, plastic and aluminum to a recycling station provided by the City of Houston. Happy Earth Compost will be at Discovery Green to pick up your compost free of charge. Compost can be carried in your own container — that you will then clean out and take home.

Conscious Breathing and Sound Meditation Yoga Class in Spanish
Monday, July 3rd from 6:30 - 7:30 PM
This free class offers Yoga, Breathing and Sound Meditation practices to the Latino and Spanish-speaking community of Houston. Led by Natalia Uribe and Sebastián Romero. Crystal sound bowls will be played by Saumil Manek.
