Older adults to party at “Senior Prom” hosted by Houston Health Department’s Congregate Meal Program

More than 150 Houston area seniors will dust off their dancing shoes and dress in their dazzle for a day of music, dancing, mingling and fun at the “Golden Time of Day Senior Prom,” hosted by the Houston Health Department’s Congregate Meal Program.

Seniors ages 60 to 92 from the department's Northeast, Hiram Clarke and Sunnyside Multi-Service Centers will enjoy door prizes, a best dance contest and the crowning of a prom “king and queen.”

The Congregate Meal Program offers meals to adults 60 and older through community dining. The congregate setting offers older adults a chance to participate in programs with the Houston Health Department and encourage social engagement that helps promote their overall well-being. The department also offers home-bound people in Houston and Harris County home-delivered meals through the "Meals On Wheels" program, using contracts with local non-profit agencies.
