Houston native honored as Junior Sailor of the Quarter aboard USS George Washington

NORFOLK, Va. – Petty Officer 3rd Class William Mobley, a native of Houston, was recognized as Junior Sailor of the Quarter aboard USS George Washington, May 23.

Junior Sailor of the Quarter is an accolade given to an exemplary sailor, selected by a board of senior enlisted out of multiple competitive entries, for their accomplishments. This honor shows that Mobley proudly represents the “Spirit of Freedom”, the ship’s nickname.

“My family has always stressed the importance of having a strong work ethic and communication skills, which have helped in the development of my professional relationships,” said Mobley.

Mobley is a 2012 graduate of Jersey Village High School.

Mobley joined the Navy two and a half years ago and today serves as an aviation electronics technician.

Aircraft carriers, such as George Washington, project power and presence worldwide by serving as the cornerstone of a Carrier Strike Group and launching and landing various types of aircraft.

USS George Washington is named after the first President of the United States. The ship’s motto is “First in War, First in Peace”.
