Mayweather Boxing + Fitness Opens Location in Houston Heights

The new studio owner plans to unite the community through Floyd Mayweather’s Fitness Franchise

Mayweather Boxing + Fitness – the best-in-class group fitness experience that combines immersive training with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather’s champion techniques, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new location in Houston Heights. Located at 600 N Shepherd Dr, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness of Houston Heights recently opened on May 6th.

Richard Tate, a local entrepreneur with a diverse career background, owns the Houston Heights Mayweather Boxing + Fitness studio. Tate, who holds a Bachelor’s in Engineering and an MBA, went to law school to become an attorney before switching career paths and opening an Amazon Delivery business. He ultimately decided to switch to franchise entrepreneurship and open a Mayweather Boxing + Fitness gym to give back to his community and own a company with a tried and tested, well-known model. The location in Houston Heights will be his second Mayweather Boxing + Fitness location, having already opened one in Dallas.

“Many career decisions are made for personal financial gain,” said Tate. “Instead, I wanted to open a small business for a chance to change my community and bring more innovative jobs to the area that people will be passionate about. I plan to partner with non-profits and get as involved in the community as possible.”

Tate chose Mayweather Boxing + Fitness for its unique fitness atmosphere. Offering more than just traditional boxing, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness is the most time-tested group fitness, full-body workout experience on the market today. Utilizing methods developed throughout Floyd Mayweather’s 21-year undefeated boxing career, each studio offers a balance of class options formulated to give members a full-body workout regardless of previous experience while catering to different skill levels and interests. A unique training emphasis is present at each training station involving equipment, including rowers, treadmills, boxing bags, and more. Members can participate in various high-energy and endurance-building classes, each lasting anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour. In addition, state-of-the-art smart screen technology is used to project Floyd’s image throughout the class, so members can learn from and train alongside the undefeated boxer himself.

“Mayweather Boxing + Fitness provides a workout in tune with the demographics of the area,” continued Tate. “It’s young, fun, and appeals to all. The brand brings diversity into the boutique boxing industry where people of all races and gender can feel comfortable, no matter their fitness history. Our goal is to make the workouts fun, and I’m excited to bring such a new and unique fitness concept to Houston.”

With a population of over two million people, Houston is the most populated city in Texas and the fourth largest in the US, making it the perfect city for Mayweather Boxing + Fitness’s new location. With a diverse and vibrant culture in the city, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness will provide locals with a fitness experience to match.

“We're excited for our newest studio opening in Texas,” said Dawn Weiss, Chief Marketing Officer at Mayweather Boxing + Fitness. “It’s always great to see a franchise owner grow with our brand and marrying his business experience and passion for the community, we know Richard is the perfect partner to bring Mayweather Boxing + Fitness to the Houston area.”
