Downtown Houston Introduces Market Square Park Farmers Market

New pop-up in the heart of Houston is a must-visit destination this fall

Downtown Houston is a thriving and vibrant neighborhood where Houstonians experience life, community, and culture. As part of the continued expansion of and investments in the heart of the city, the Downtown District is hosting the Market Square Park Farmers Market every Saturday this fall, starting September 9 and through November 18.

In collaboration with Central City Co-Op, Houston’s oldest organic, sustainable food co-op, the new, open-air farmers market bridges the city’s past and present, spotlights local growers and makers, and provides access to seasonally fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables plus meat proteins and prepared foods as well as other household goods. Multiple forms of payment will be accepted, including SNAP-EBT.

Market Square Park, formerly known as Congress Square, is located in Downtown Houston’s Historic District. It is “the original heart of community activity in Downtown Houston.” Starting in 1836, and lasting for a century, Market Square Park was home to the first City Hall as well as an open-air produce and fish market. This season’s farmers market will embrace this history while showcasing the ongoing transformation and progression of Downtown Houston.

In addition to the shopping and historical experiences, guests will enjoy live music performances by local artists and other entertainment.
