Description

What: Fire Chief Terry Garrison and Mayor Annise Parker and representatives from Kidde, Home Depot and Toyota will announce the kick-off of the continued partnership “Operation Save a Life” public safety campaign.

Where: HFD Fire Station 8, 1919 Louisiana (Parking lot entrance off Milam)
Additional Information: An average of 30 percent of all residential fires that the Houston Fire Department responds to have either no smoke detector or no working smoke detector. This campaign is designed to increase awareness and educate consumers about the dangers of fire, as well as the importance of functioning smoke detectors. As part of the campaign, Kidde and Home Depot are contributing 3000, 10-year smoke detectors for the residents of Houston, as well as public service announcement to support the campaign. Since 2002, Kidde has donated nearly 1,000,000 smoke detectors to fire departments throughout the nation. *Spanish Speaker will be available for media.
