Texas Southern University's 3rd Maroon & Gray Affair

Photography by Vicky Pink - In an effort to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders, Texas Southern University hosted their 3rd annual Maroon & Gray Affair to raise funds for scholarships. They exceed their goal and raised over $1 million for scholarships. In addition, several students and supports of TSU were recognized. Lashawn Hamb and Orlando Sutton Jr. were honored as outstanding students. SWV, Kid Carpi, and Billy Sorrels provided entertainment. Some in attendance were TSU President Dr. Austin Lane and the First Lady of TSU Loren Lane, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, ReShonda Tate Billingsley, Melinda Spaulding, James Harris, Dr. Carolyn Evans Shabazz, Anita and Gerald Smith, Mary Young, and LaRence Snowden.
