Photography by Vicky Pink - The Houston Area Urban League celebrated their 50th anniversary at the 2018 annual Equal Opportunity Day Gala. Fifty years of advancing the plight of the Black family is invaluable. As far as the eye could see, love for HAUL’s mission of empowering families was on display. During the sold out event chaired by Joanne and Peter Linden, Dr. Ruth J. Simmons, Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, and Roynell Young were honored. Funds from the gala will benefit HAUL programs. They have a heavy fundraising goal of $1 million. Some in attendance included Khambrel Marshal, Rev. Byron Stevenson, Rev. Ralph E. West II, Bobby Scott, Lateshia Thompson, Judson Robinson III, and Chelsi and Phillip Yates.
