Photography by Blanca Beltran - The holiday season is now in full swing in Houston as Mayor Sylvester Turner hosted the 99th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting. Presented by Reliant, an NRG Company, the spectacular event feature traditional music Santa, and a huge fireworks show. Celebrity guests adding to the merriment of the show were Yolanda Adams, Alisan Porter, Mary Griffin, Debra Duncan, Ernest Walker, Houston METdance, Los Luzeros de Rioverde, KIPP Sharp Singers, and Harmony Public Schools. The event produced by the Mayor’s Office of Special Events with Director Susan Christian had the holiday tree glowing from the stunning star topper down to the energy efficient LED lights. Toys were collected from the public to benefit the toy drive held by the Salvation Army Greater Houston.
