Whitney Mercilus’ Returning 2 Learning

Photography by Vicky Pink - Houston ISD students have officially gone back-to-school and Houston Texans Whitney Mercilus was in the building to make sure they had a good start. Through his foundation, WithMerci, the Houston Texans player hosted a back-to-school event called “Returning 2 Learning” to give students free backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts. It was part of his way to give to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Mercilus was assisted with his efforts from a variety of community partners including Houston ISD School Board, WithMerci Foundation, Boom Media and Image Consulting, Visible Changes Salon, The Empire Barber Studio, Majic 102.1, KBXX 97.9 The Box, McDonald's Houston Charity Bulls, and many others. Students had a great welcome back experience. Some in attendance were Houston ISD Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones, Houston ISD School Board President Wanda Adams, Timothy C. Wright, Marcus Walker, and Leroy Bell.
