Texas Black Expo Sets Sights on Next Level Success at Annual Summer Celebration

#TBE2019 Summer Celebration is June 6-9, 2019

HOUSTON -- (April 9, 2019) – The Texas Black Expo Summer Celebration is the largest African-American empowerment trade show and festival in Texas. This year’s theme is Next Level Business: Educating. Investing. Expanding. The 16th annual Texas Expo runs Thursday, June 6th to Sunday, June 9th and is free to attend. Thousands of people are expected at the George R. Brown Convention Center to experience the abundance of activities, giveaways and vendor booths.

The four-day event has something for the entire family including the Nightlight Kids Adventure Zone Presented by McDonald’s Houston, with a bouncy house, face painting, games and more. The ever-popular Diva Dialogue panel discussion hosted by MPAC will feature Grammy Award-nominated recording artist Elle Varner. Varner will also headline the Party in the Park Artist Showcase, an outdoor concert featuring local and regional acts.

The TBE College Fair will include representatives from dozens of colleges and universities, who will be available to meet with students and parents. Students will have the opportunity to win a portion of a $5,000 scholarship giveaway and hear from industry professionals during a series of career workshops.

The Expo will also include a health and wellness pavilion, a beauty extravaganza, empowerment workshops, a kids and teen talent competition, live entertainment and author showcase. The organization will also honor community leaders at its annual Corporate Awards Luncheon, where Reid Ryan, president of business operations for the Houston Astros, will be the featured speaker. Ed Ryland, CEO of Arvo Realty Advisors, will receive the Larry Green Leadership Award, named after the late city councilmember. Other honorees include McDonald’s Houston, Dr. Umekei Smith of US Dentistry, and KPRC Channel 2.
