Family of boy who died after being left in day care bus files lawsuit

KPRC is reporting that the family of 3-year-old Raymond “R.J.” Pryer has filed a lawsuit in his wrongful death case. The toddler was left in a day care bus van last month after returning from a field trip with the Discovery Me Academy. He was left in the van for more than four hours and died of heat exhaustion.

His family wants the owner of the daycare as well as the van driver and those in charge of caring for Pryer to never be able to work with children again. They also want the daycare owner to never be able to operate or own a childcare facility. In addition, they want measures to be put in place so there are procedures for all daycare facilities to track children in the facility as well as vehicles that transport children.
