What: On Friday, October 16, join the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for a special free edition of MFAH Mixed Media to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Glassell School of Art.
Transforming the popular MFAH Mixed Media party into a free, after-hours neighborhood bash, the MFAH Block Party will take place along Bissonnet Street and inside of the Museum’s Cullen Sculpture Garden.
With expanded food truck options lining Bissonnet Street, cocktails and a roster of talented DJs in the Sculpture Garden, and an exclusive view of the new Glassell construction site, the Block Party will give party-goers a glimpse into the exciting expansion of the MFAH campus. Guests are invited to dance the night away to performances by DJ Melodic, DJ Sun, and DJ Chicken George, participate in a creative art-making activity, and snap pics in the complimentary Smilebooth. Details: Admission to this special edition of MFAH Mixed Media is free. Reserve your spot today – a limited number of advance tickets are available online at www.mfah.org/mixedmedia. Download a ticket and arrive by 9 p.m. to guarantee entry into the performances in Cullen Sculpture Garden. Must be 21 or older (with a photo I.D.) to purchase drink tickets and consume alcoholic beverages. The Museum encourages guests to use the Houston Wave for transportation to and from Mixed Media.
Who's Who: Austin-based DJ Chicken George is known for his unique, Jazztronica! style, which perfectly blends his expansive taste and knowledge of music with a variety of genres. His distinctive style makes him a highly regarded, internationally acclaimed musical force. Houston Press Music Hall of Fame inductee DJ Sun (Soular Productions) has worked as a recording artist and DJ for two decades, winning the Houston Press Best DJ Award on multiple occasions and the Best CD by a Local Musician award for his album “One Hundred.”
