Rep. Maxine Waters & Comptroller Thomas J. Curry Will Lead Forum on the Offices of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI)

On Friday, Sept. 20, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee will serve as honorary host for a Banking Issue Forum during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 2013 Annual Legislative Conference (ALC). Rep. Waters led efforts to include a provision in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to require each Federal banking agency to establish an Office of Minority and Women Inclusion. These offices are responsible for all aspects of diversity within the agency, including diversity in hiring and contracting. Rep. Waters will join directors from these offices at a panel discussion to share with minorities, women, and owners of minority- and women-owned businesses how the offices work, how the offices are advancing diversity, and how to obtain employment or contracting opportunities with the agencies. Opening remarks will be given by the Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry. The forum will take place at the Washington Convention Center.
